Old Fashioned Banana Cream Pie

A classic treat from the past made with basic ingredients is banana pudding pie, sometimes referred to as banana cream pie with pudding. The taste that results from layering bananas with a creamy pudding filling is unbeatable!

 

Old Fashioned Banana Cream Pie

Ingredients:

  • One cooked pie crust measuring 9 inches.
  • Three cups of milk, whole.
  • White sugar, 3/4 cup.
  • A third cup of all-purpose flour.
  • Salt, 1/4 teaspoon.
  • Three lightly beaten egg yolks.
  • Butter, two tablespoons.
  • A single vanilla bean.
  • Three bananas.

 

Directions:

  1. Prepare a cooked 9-inch pie crust.
  2. Scorch the milk in a big pot.
  3. Whisk together the sugar, flour, and salt in a separate pan. Next, gradually add the hot milk.
  4. Cook until thickened over medium heat while continually stirring.
  5. Cook for a further two minutes with the lid on, stirring periodically.
  6. Prepare the three egg yolks in a small bowl by softly beating them; add a tiny quantity of the hot mixture to the yolks; once they are well blended, add the yolks to the heated mixture.
  7. Continue to cook while stirring for an additional minute.
  8. Take the pan from the heat, then stir in the butter and vanilla.
  9. Let it warm up to lukewarm.
  10. Slice the bananas in the pie crust before pouring the heated mixture over them.
  11. Top the pie with a meringue (you’ll have three extra egg whites), or let it cool before serving.
